ESU Public Speaking Competition

In their first appearance in the prestigious ESU Public Speaking Competition, three Year 10 students competed this week against Ashford School, Dover College and some strong Grammar schools such as Dover Grammar School for Girls, Folkestone School for Girls and Sir Roger Manwoods.

The event was held at the Guildhall in Canterbury,  supported by the Rotary Club with prizes awarded by the Lady Mayoress of Canterbury.

Ella Tester-Smith, Cordelia Sigurdsson and Priya Brown were SLGGS’s team of three and performed exceptionally well in their debut appearance as they took the role of Chair, Speaker and Questioner respectively.

At the end of the night, the result could hardly have been better with Priya winning the individual prize for best Questioner and the team being selected as the very best from the night and progressing to the South East Regional Final in London in March.

Please congratulate the girls on this fantastic effort. They were worthy winners and fully deserve their success against some really tough competition!
