A Level success and GCSE Results reminder
Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School – A Level success and GCSE Results reminder
We are delighted once again this year by another very strong set of A Level/Pre-U/EPQ results, with 32% of entries awarded at A*-A and over 60% of all exams achieving A*-B grades. The majority of students will now be moving on to study at a range of universities, with the vast majority achieving or exceeding their offers. Whole school and department breakdowns of results will be available on the school website in due course.
Seven of our students will be commencing undergraduate degrees at Oxbridge colleges, representing 100% success rate for those offered places, with a further seven gaining places to study medicine (5) or dentistry (2).
Of particular worthy mention are: Eleanor Horton (Biology), Emily Perkins (Classics), Vicky Stone (English) and Lauren Charters (Psychology), who will all study at Oxford colleges; Charlotte Brundle (English), Sasha Swift (English) and Phoebe Pritchard (Psychological and Behavioural Sciences) off to study at Cambridge colleges; and Martha McCutcheon (Imperial), Zurafa Sakel (Birmingham), Hannah Agboola (Brighton and Sussex), Hannah Mathews (UEA), Rabiah Singh (Sheffield), Laura Underhill (Birmingham) and Madeleine Tomlin (Birmingham) will all be studying either medicine or dentistry.
There are many, many, other students who have attained similarly exciting places; a full list of destinations and courses will be available shortly.
For the size of our 6th form cohorts this is an extremely impressive number of students attaining places on highly competitive and prestigious courses, highlighting the academic rigour, support, care and guidance that as a school we pride ourselves on delivering.
We congratulate the whole cohort, and the dedicated staff who taught them, on their success, and thank them for the contribution they made to the school. Whether they are off to university, commencing a gap year, going into employment or starting an apprenticeship, we will watch their development with great pride and interest.
We are now looking forwards to GCSE results, which will be available on Thursday from 09:30. This will also be the time for internal applicants to enrol in the 6th form, and to discuss any request to amend option choices. As there are limits to the number of places in classes, and with the school receiving more applications than ever before, it is vital that these requests are processed before students leave. Good luck to all Year 11s: we hope that you all receive the grades your ability, commitment, hard work and constant enthusiasm deserves.
