John Stuart Mill Cup - Winners!!
Congratulations to Miss Hawkins and the team on winning the 2021 John Stuart Mill Cup, beating St Paul’s Girls’ School in the final to win the national competition. The team was made up of a mixed team of Year 10-12 students.
The John Stuart Mill Cup has a dual purpose: to promote interest in philosophy among secondary school students and to model and promote civil discourse on issues of public concern. One of the judges of the tournament, Michael Wilde (Lecturer in Philosophy) said: “Many congratulations to the team from Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School! There was some very strong competition from schools across the country, both in the regional tournaments and the finals. So winning the cup is a great achievement. Hopefully, the team will have a chance to defend their title next year at a regional tournament held at the University of Kent.”
