World Book Day 2015
WORLD BOOK DAY 2015
As part of 7N’s Enrichment Programme the students worked on designing displays for World Book Day. 7N met to discuss what theme they would like to follow and decided to link books with cakes and baking!
In conjunction with the School Library they designed the perfect recipe for a good book or Library and produced posters from their ideas. 7N wanted to make the display as colourful as possible; as the day after World Book Day it was being used at a reading event at St. Anselm’s school.
7N decided to make two giant cake stands and stack them with colourful ‘cupcakes’ bearing the titles and authors of their favourite books. This display included blank ‘cupcakes’ for the visitors at St. Anselm’s to add to the display.
On 6th March the corridors were thronging with Year 7 and 8 students dressed as book characters, including Pippi Long Stocking, Mary Poppins and numerous ‘Thing One and Thing Two’ characters from Dr. Seuss.
Lunchtime in the Library was very busy as 7N helped the Librarian to run a sale of second hand books and homemade cakes. £381.83 was raised by selling the books and cakes!
The money raised will go to Book Aid International who will be able to send 190 new books to a school in Africa with the money that we raised.
A big ‘thank you’ to the students, parents and staff who donated books and cakes for sale.
