Year 9 Arts Award Silver News!

artsworkA funding award from Artswork South East Bridge Organisation to support and develop Arts Award and build links with local Primary Schools has provided a range of exciting arts events for our Year 9 students this term.  On Tuesday 10th March 2015 they visited the fabulous Beaney Museum in Canterbury. This included a visit to the Enid Blyton exhibition and a talk about how the exhibition was curated from the museum’s Learning Officer, Martin Crowther. Students also had chance to visit the gallery and learn more about how they could use the museum as a future resource. arts award logo

On Wednesday 11th March 2015, visiting artist Mary-Claire Smith ran a bookmaking workshop with two groups of Arts Award students. They learnt some really useful techniques and created a range of different books. The ideas for the book making will be really helpful for students as they start to plan their own workshops for Primary School children this summer.

arts councilMontage artist Victoria Fountas ran an Alice in Wonderland inspired workshop with students on the 24th March 2015 and Margate based artist Heidi Plant grabbed students’ attention with a fabulous talk about her work and ideas. Students very much enjoyed exploring materials in the follow up task.

These enriching and inspiring events have been supported with investment from Artswork, the South East Bridge.
