A grade ‘B’ in GCSE Geography is strongly advised – occasionally, we have considered a B in another Humanities subject but this is through negotiation with Deputy Head and Head of Department.

Outline of the Course

Year 12

•  Component 1: Coastal Landscapes & Changing Places

•  Start of Component 2: Global Governance Change & Challenge

•  Component 3: Tectonic Hazards

•  Start of Component 4: Independent Investigation – 4000 words: Tutors will be allocated according to research topic (topic will develop out of Betteshanger fieldwork and Dorset fieldwork in Year 12). Report will be written in draft during Summer Holiday of Year 12 into Year 13.

•  Fieldwork requirement RESIDENTIAL FIELDWORK – DORSET 3 DAYS & 1 DAY BETTESHANGER (costing approx. £200.00 for all elements)

•  Component 3: Weather and Climate & Development in an African Context

•  Completion of Component 2: Water & Carbon Cycle & Global Governance Change & Challenge

•  Completion of Component 4 by October half term : Independent Investigation – 4000 words
